Vermont map, cut to the state line
Vermont is ski towns, lake towns and a lot of small villages with a green and a white church. A laser cut Vermont map with a heart on Stowe, Burlington or the family farm is about as cozy as a map gets.

What sells in Vermont
Ski towns are the steady market. Stowe, Killington, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, Jay Peak and Okemo have season-pass families and ski-house owners. A topographic map of the mountain with the trails nearby, or a village street map, sells every winter.
Burlington and Lake Champlain are the other anchor. The city slopes down to the lake, and the islands to the north have summer places that families keep for generations. Keep the lake as its own water layer.
And the villages. Woodstock, Manchester, Middlebury, Grafton, Waitsfield. Small towns with a green at the center make a lovely city street map at tight zoom. Fall leaf-peepers buy them as trip souvenirs.
Farms are part of the story too. Dairy and maple families want the home place with the barn or the sugarbush marked, and a heart on the farm with the gravel roads around it is a gift that gets passed down. Foliage visitors are the other big buyers, and they want the town they stayed in.
Making a laser cut Vermont ornament
Vermont is a wedge: wide at the top along Canada, narrow at the bottom along Massachusetts, with the Connecticut River on the eastern edge and Lake Champlain along the northwest. At 4 in tall it is slim, so keep the inside spare. Use I-89 from White River Junction to Burlington, I-91 up the river, and Lake Champlain as water on the left side. A heart on the town.
For skiers, try terrain instead of roads. The Green Mountains run right down the middle of the state, and two elevation levels show them as a spine.
The Champlain Islands were inside the simplified outline in our check, which is good news for island families. Check the outline in the Studio anyway. A forest green backer is the obvious Green Mountain State choice. Maple-stained birch on top looks right.
Questions makers ask
Are the Lake Champlain islands inside the Vermont outline?
In our check, Grand Isle and South Hero were inside the simplified state frame. Check the outline in the Studio before you finalize.
Can I show the Green Mountains on a Vermont ornament?
Yes. Use two elevation levels instead of roads. The mountains run down the middle of the state and show as a spine.
What size Vermont ornament works best?
Vermont is narrow, so 4 or 5 in. At 3 in there is little room inside the wedge.
