Alaska map, cut to the state line
Alaska is the one state where the outline alone tells the story. A laser cut Alaska map works for people who live there and for the much larger crowd who visited once and never got over it.

Places in Alaska people ask for
Who buys Alaska maps
Two crowds. Alaskans buy their town and their cabin road, the same as anyone. The bigger crowd is visitors: cruise passengers who stopped in Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway, families who drove the Seward Highway, anglers who spent a week on the Kenai. They want proof they went.
For visitors, think trip map. A route line from Anchorage to Seward, or the cruise ports strung down the Inside Passage, tells the story. The Studio can import a GPX track, so a customer's own drive or flight line can go on the piece. See route maps for how that works.
For Denali and the Chugach, go with terrain. A topographic map split into elevation levels shows why the place feels so big. Keep the frame wide. Mountains need room.
Timing matters with visitors. Cruise and summer trip buyers often order after they get home, in the fall, so keep Alaska listings live all year, not only at Christmas. A piece with the ports or the drive as pins gives them a reason to order a second one for whoever came along.
Making a laser cut Alaska ornament
The Alaska outline is busy. The panhandle runs down the right, the Alaska Peninsula reaches out to the left, and the coast is all bays and inlets. At 4 in, that coastline is the decoration. Put very little inside: the Yukon River, the Parks Highway between Anchorage and Fairbanks, and a heart or star on the town.
Know what the frame includes. The built-in state outline traces the mainland, so islands such as Kodiak, the Aleutians and most of the Southeast towns, Sitka and Ketchikan among them, fall outside it. Juneau sits on the mainland and is inside. Check the outline in the Studio before you promise an island town. For Kodiak or Sitka, a circle or bauble frame centered on the town works better.
Material idea: a white or icy blue acrylic backer behind dark wood reads like snow and sea. Engrave the town name in the frame band and keep the font plain.
Questions makers ask
Does the Alaska outline include the Aleutian Islands?
No. The state frame traces the mainland, so the Aleutians, Kodiak and the island towns of the Southeast sit outside it. Check the outline in the Studio, and use a round frame for island towns.
Can I add a cruise or road trip route to an Alaska map?
Yes. Import a GPX track in the Studio and it becomes a line you can engrave or score. A cruise port list also works as pins down the Inside Passage.
What should go inside a small Alaska ornament?
Less than you think. The coastline already carries the piece. Add one river, one highway and a heart on the town. Everything else turns to noise at 4 in.
